SCOUTS

Scouting is fun - Scouting Challenges youth - Scouting, where fast friends are made.

There is a geat mystic feeling in the woods, when in the country, away from the city lights, you look up at the stars, they are brighter, sharper and more identifiable, you see shapes and constellations not visible in Toronto.  You chat with some friends, around the campfire, telling or hearing stories and sing some songs.  It is great fun.  We will teach you to light fires, use knives, axes,  saws safely as these are tools scouts and venturers use, but only at camp.  Superb Memories form.

Join Scouting at the 236th today.  email bob@236toronto.com and say I want to join

We get together each week at Holy Name School on Carlaw Ave. just south of Danforth.  We have a lot of fun and do loads of really neat things. Scouts is for boys and girls  between the ages 11 to 14 years and you are invited to join.  We also offer younger and older programs as well.  We meet 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. each Tuesday evening from September to June.

For those that want more we have the Group drum corps and invite you as an option to join our drum corps, learn to play and parade with us.  If you wish, you may also meet on a separate evening to do guitar instructions and perform with our Band "First Light Scout Band"  How do you join the fun.  Come out on Tuesday evening during the school year at 6:30 p.m., or call 416 465 8639 or by email bob@236toronto.com.   Come, lets have some fun, learn some stuff, make new friends.  Scouts does offer achievable challenges, teaches youth to respect him(her)self, earn badges, learn life and leadership skills.  We will be scheduling several days for outings and hikes, also we take our Scouts camping 4 or 5 times per year for a weekend and week long camps. We'll teach you to be selfsufficient in the woods, preparing meals, looking after the fire, chopping and sawing wood, follow animal trails, see some wildlife like a loon, raccoon, deer, fox, chipmunk, beaver, all at your campsite area.

There are no limits to what Scouts can achieve with support from home and the leadership team. We are always busy and involved in a lot of things from community service, to camps and hikes. From badge program to parades and food drives.

Our games and sports are not restricted to a specific thing sport.

Still we do offer scouts an opportunity to develop a wide range of knowledge and experiences and an appreciation for variety.  Later, they use this knowledge and experience, and understand, that everything can be achieved with preparation and thought.  In scouting, you will know that you can learn to do a lot of things and this will give you self confidence to achieve more.

Service - Our scouts and leadership team is committed to improve the community we live in by, participating in the food drives for our area and in neighboring communities. When possible, we join in celebrating Canada Day and in honoring our Veterans.

Outdoor our Scout activities include camping, hiking, boating, canoeing, swimming, archery. We encourage our youth to enjoy the out of doors and develop skills in cooking, scout skills and sports and to enjoy a wide range of games.
